Artist Pamela Spiro Wagner has been making crafts all her life… quilting, and needlework and even bookbinding and making faux Fabergé egg jewelry boxes when she was a teenager.

In late December of 2007, she suddenly decided to create “a person.” She said “I was just seized with the notion that I would and could make a life-size sculpture, that it was possible for me without any art training or experience whatsoever to do so.” She proceeded to make The Decorated Betsy, which you can view on her  blog or at her artid site. About a year and a half ago, she picked up a brush and paint and “decided” to paint a portrait. From that “First Love” came forth.

She is forever grateful that art came into her life, and does not expect to quit any time soon. It is simply too much fun. “I get up in the morning and can’t wait to get to work. My biggest problem is that as a writer, I can’t decide which to do first, write, or “do art.” but that is a dilemma that I am certain many people wish they had, so I am not complaining.”

Pamela has written two amazing books about living with
Schizophrenia. Divided Minds and We Mad Climb Shaky Ladders.
