The opening reception and fundraiser kick-off will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

Artists and volunteers will be available during the reception to discuss their work and the efforts of Artists for Hope.

We are really excited about this fundraiser. It will allow for us to share about Cazale with the city of Omaha and our efforts to create jobs and feed severely malnourished children in the mountains of Haiti. We work in an area where extreme poverty is the reality for so many people. It can be hard for people to understand if they haven’t experienced it. We hope to bring that reality to life for people so they can use their talents and resources to make life a little easier for the Haitians we work with and bring hope to this area.

We are thrilled to be featuring work from Omaha artists including Valerie Light-Anderson, Susan Woodford, Reagan Davis Pufall, and Shea Wilkinson. We are still accepting donations and entries and would love to share about any of the artists that donate. 100% of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to feed kids and help families living in extreme poverty.

The Opening Reception is open to all to attend. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be available. Hope to see you there!

The money that comes in from donated artwork almost always goes towards the overwhelming task of feeding and caring for all of the children in the Rescue Center. Occasionally there is something that is a critical need (like the Cholera House) that we put money towards.

The profits from items created in Haiti go towards buying more supplies for our artisans. Any money that is left over after that goes towards the community of Cazale.

After the Open House this December, remaining profits went towards the community group in Cazale (that works incredibly hard to make Cazale the best community it can be) and towards helping 6 sweet sisters stay together.

Until RHFH helped get these girls together, they were spread all over with different distant relatives in random locations because they didn’t have any immediate family to care for them. Sadly several of the girls we having to work for other families instead of going to school because of their situation.

We were able to help purchase items for the new room they are living in and also be school sponsors for one of the girls so she can start school. All because of the items people purchased through the holiday season. Love!

These smiles are the motivation for everything we do.

More lives are changed and we are so happy to be a part of it!

Welcome to the Quilth Dimension.

I’m Shea Wilkinson from Omaha, NE and I’ve been a sewer of clothes, quilts, and dolls since I was a child. Only recently, beginning in 2011, have I learned the techniques of free motion quilting, and it has changed my life!

Every little bit that every person gives helps Real Hope For Haiti. Just this week they were able to buy a plate of food for a little boy who came into the Rescue Center for $1. That $1 helped someone who hadn’t eaten in a very long time. Every little bit helps.

We had a very successful Open House. We were so happy and thankful for every person that braved the cold and shopped and donated. Thank you for helping kids like Rejiline.

Rejiline just arrived at the Rescue Center. She is 3 years old and weighs 19 pounds (wow!). She has had 4 siblings that have died of kwashiorkor. She is currently on the medika mamba program.

Every lit bit given will help RHFH to help Rejiline to live.

Want to know of a fun way to help for only $15?

A couple volunteers have decided to do something to help. One of them, Bekki, also donated some beautiful scarves and hats to our Open House. She put this fun calendar together and it is being sold to raise funds for the Rescue Center.

Each month has a picture made out of hand prints of a child from the Rescue Center that is featured for that month. Each of these kids are currently in the Rescue Center and are being helped by everyone who is currently giving. The money from these calendars will help give food and care to each of these kids. Pretty amazing for only $15.00!

The people who put these calendars together will be covering the full cost of production so that 100% can go to RHFH and the children in the RC. We are excited about this project. If you would like more information on ordering these please email Bekki at tanashouse@gmail.com. The cost is $15.00 per calendar.

We are really excited to have some new artists! Meet Andie Eggimann from Minneapolis, MN.

Art has been a love of mine from a young age. There are things in life that I believe can only be adequately given voice through art. The depth of emotion I feel when I listen to beautiful song or read the Bible is most clearly embodied for me on canvas. I want my art to be not only an outworking of my own faith but an encouragement to others to see the beauty of Christ. Also, it is fulfilling for me to give others a tangible piece of art to hold onto as they walk through life’s sorrows and joys. As for my daily life: my husband and I have three children, two by birth and one through adoption. At the moment, we are expecting number four through adoption.

Andie donated two beautiful prints to us, including this tulip print that I absolutely love. I’m Dutch~ so I pretty much have to love tulips by law. Isn’t it great???

You can see more of Andie’s work and buy her prints at her Etsy Shop. Be sure to check it out!

Marnie Scott and her two adorable children are helping feed kids in Haiti this year through their donations for our Open House.

This is the time of year that I wish everyone lived in Omaha and could come see all of the amazing things we have for sale. It really is something.

Not only did Marnie paint and donate this amazing antique window …

… she also sent some of the products from her line of natural lip and body balms that I can say from experience are SO great.

If you visit her website you will see how many fun and wonderful scents of lip balm she has. Her kids have even designed a special lip balm and are learning all about running a business through the experience.

She also has a great line of natural body balms. Love the natural diaper rash balm!

Check out Marnie and her little entrepreneurs at Simply. Natural.

Thanks Marnie, Serena, and Sawyer for feeding kids in the Rescue Center this Christmas. What a beautiful way to use your talents!

One of our artisans in Haiti wrote us a very special letter. We were really thankful to receive this right before Thanksgiving.

We wanted to share some of it with you so you can see how much your purchases mean…

Good morning and good afternoon. I greet you in the name of Jesus. I tell you thank you for this work that you found for me. I congratulate you and I tell you thanks you very much. I’m praying to God for you, your husband, your children, for all of you family, for your mother, for your father. I’m praying that God will bless you and your whole family and for God to help you sell all of your merchandise that you have because when you sell it I have hope that I’ll have work. When I make money, it really helps me. I pay my rent. I buy clothes for my kids. We eat. I bought a goat and a chicken. God has a lot of power. I tell you thank you for what you’ve done for me and for the money that you’ve helped me make. There have been some days that I get up and I don’t see anything to do. If it wouldn’t be for you all helping me, I don’t know how I would take care of my kids. I thank everyone who is helping us.

Thank you to everyone who has already purchased items from our new store. We are busy boxing things up and hope we will have many more orders to fill in the next couple weeks. Thank you for bringing hope to people in Haiti this holiday season!
